The VERTEX F4 controller 1/16 DIN is our NEW LOW COST yet HIGH SPEC controller. Configurable on input between various thermocouples from the keypad by the user or with basic instrumentation skills between thermocouples, PT100, linear mA, linear mV and Voltage. Choose between "Relay Output" or "Solid State Relay Output" or to have a second alarm when ordering. It comes standard with the main heating output and one relay alarm but you can order it with the main output converted to a full function second alarm. There are two optional extras, firstly the RS485 comm's used for networking and or MMI interfacing and the IP65 gasket option. Without the gasket the basic unit is IP63. (We will have the 1/4 DIN, 72 x 72 DIN, and 1/8 DIN vert. available soon) |

IMPROVED CONTROL |
RAMP AND SOFT START |
AUTO TUNE FUNCTION |
| Faster input sampling rate gives improved control | Single step RAMP FUNCTION that can be used with the SOFT START function to limit rate of rise/fall and power to loads at startup | Allows the controller to be "Tuned" (set) to suit your specific application to give best control results |

Inputs |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The basic controller factory default is set for Type K 0~1000 deg C input but is user selectable between thermocouple and PT100 inputs via the keypad and menu. If you are proficient with instrumentation, link details are provided in the manual to facilitate changes between thermocouples and either current (mA) or milli volt (mV) or voltage inputs. Once the links have been set no re-calibration is required, all you do is set the measuring range in the menu to suit your chosen input. Very versatile feature. |

Output |
|
You can choose either relay or solid state relay output when ordering this controller. It is not user changeable. |
|
Relay Output |
This is a Form A / SPST rated at 2 amps at 240 Vac resistive load. If you are switching a contactor coil that may cause problems due to inductive back EMF please use a snubber across the relay output terminals. Read more about it here |
Solid State Relay |
This is typically 24 Vdc suitable for switching most makes of Solid State Relays that can be switched by a voltage between 3~32 vdc (typical spec). (Minimum restive load of 250 ohms) |
Control Modes |
|
This is a "Relay Output" or "Solid State Relay Output" controller. Control is achieved by switching either a Relay or SSR output on and off to regulate the power to the load in order to maintain a preset temperature. You can use this controller in either a "Full PID mode" or "Proportional" or "On/Off" mode. All of these end up switching the output on and off in some fashion to reach and maintain a preset temperature. For more info about "Control" please read our simple explanation "Basics of Temperature Controllers" |
|
PID |
Proportional, Integral and Derivative control mode is the fullest, most responsive type of control you can have with a controller of this sort. The controller has an "Auto-Tune" function that will set the PID parameters for you when activated, to suite your system and give the best possible results on your system. |
P with manual reset |
Proportional control allows for the output to be proportionally switched on and off more or less depending on the offset from the setpoint. The manual offset allows you to correct for the inability of straight "proportional" control to cater for dynamic changes in the system which may result in an "offset". |
ON/OFF |
On/off control is the simplest form of control. To make the controller on/off set the P band setting to 0. On/off control works with the "hysteresis" parameter. If you have a "Hyst" set at 1 deg C then the output will be switched on until the measured temperature reaches the setpoint + "Hyst" of 1 deg C where it will turn off. It will stay off until the measured temperature drops to the setpoint - "Hyst" at which point it will turn back on again. |
Alarm Output |
|
The Alarm Output is a potential free relay output that can be used for any number of purposes. It is a Form A SPST 2 Amp 240 Vac rated relay. It can be configured to work in any one of the modes listed below. |
